The Ask

When Boston-based director Benjamin Gibson set out to launch his production company, he wasn’t just building a brand—he was laying the foundation for a legacy. Inspired by the grandeur of Hollywood’s Golden Age, he envisioned something that could stand alongside the icons of cinema while carrying a distinct identity rooted in his Celtic ancestry.

This wasn’t about imitation—it was about evolution. About honoring the past while pushing forward with a bold, modern perspective, driven by a singular ambition: to create work that endures, resonates, and earns its place among the greats. From that vision, Magnus Films was born—a brand built for impact, longevity, and legacy.

The Logo

Drawing inspiration from the Art Deco stylings of 1920s Hollywood and Celtic runes as an homage to Ben’s family history, I crafted a primary monogram logo—seamlessly blending the timeless aesthetic of Los Angeles’ Studio Era with Western European–influenced runic symbology.

Secondary Logo

The use of the ARRI 35BL2 as a logo is a tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s legacy, symbolizing precision, innovation, and cinematic discipline. Representing a pivotal era in filmmaking, the camera reflects a commitment to craftsmanship and intentional storytelling.

More than a piece of equipment, the classic camera becomes a symbol of ambition.
